A person who helped fortifying a Jewish temple in the Manchester area has described how a violent attack unfolded, resulting in the deaths of a pair of British Jews.
That Thursday, Alan Levy was present in the worship center when an attacker rammed a car into and assaulted members gathering for a service to mark Yom Kippur.
Mr Levy noted that the 'deranged' individual attempted to break down the entryways of the place of worship, and he remembered securing the building with fellow congregation members.
The victims, in their 50s and 60s lost their lives in the incident on the morning, while three others were wounded while attempting to defend congregants.
He, who is a key figure at the synagogue, described holding the doors and stated that the perpetrator wielded sharp objects and garden containers to attempt entry.
"I saw a large, menacing figure ram in the front doors, attempting to break them open while armed with a blade," he told interviewers.
The sole statement I heard from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.
That was all were spoken. We remained inside the building and we were repeating 'we are not letting this man in'.
He acted like a crazed, violent individual."
The comments came as hundreds of people attended the ceremony for the deceased.
Close kin, congregants from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation as well as a religious leader, and individuals of the wider Jewish community assembled in the local area to pay their respects.
Those present occupied the gravesite, with many gathering outside the chapel in the downpour, listening to the proceedings over speakers.
In a message issued on the following day, his relatives stated that he had a helpful nature.
Law enforcement reported that Mr Daulby was likely hit by law enforcement rounds as they engaged the assailant shortly after the emergency call.
The victim, who was hailed by his loved ones as a "hero", was present at a gathering at the temple when the attack occurred.
"He was a beloved brother, caring relative to his family members and a dear extended family member," his loved ones stated.
His loved ones are shocked by the tragic, sudden death of a kind and humble individual.
"His final act demonstrated great bravery and he will always be honored for his heroic act."
A number of apprehensions took place in connection with the incident, and authorities indicated that four people were still detained on that time.
Each of them were apprehended for involvement in terrorist acts.
The individuals detained are a pair of males, of specific ages and detained in the local area; a older woman arrested in Prestwich; and a middle-aged female detained in another location.
Two additional individuals were released with no additional charges, authorities reported on the following day.
